Transforming Into A Wife

Transforming from a single woman into a Godly wife doesn’t happen after you say, “I do.” Your transformation into the revered Proverbs 31 wife is a process with a huge learning curve. Women have to learn how to be adaptable, malleable and willing to change as necessary to become one with their husband.  

This is much easier said than done. A perfect example of a woman who was a bit rough around the edges before marrying her husband and willingly transformed herself into a wife of noble character and became exactly what her husband needed her to be, is Kate Middleton; the future Queen of England.

I’m making an example out of Kate because of what she was before marrying Prince William and what she became after marrying him. It’s a huge transformation if you’ve ever seen her before and after photos. She was a true commoner not of a royal lineage, she looked rough, unrefined, dressed trashy, didn’t appear to have much class, got drunk and hung out in clubs and bars. She was a wild party girl and who knows what else she was involved with.

After Kate got married, you can visibly see the transformation in her style of dress, her weight, makeup, the way she carried herself and even the look in her eyes. On the outside looking in, it appears as though her marital transformation wasn’t just external but came from deep within her soul based on the changed look in her eyes. 

Kate knew what was expected of her after she got married. She knew she would be the future Queen of England and she did whatever was necessary to embrace that new wifely role and she owned it like a boss. She got rid of her old ways, willingly transformed herself, took on whatever training and advice was necessary, capitulated to her husband in every way and became who she was destined to be, the wife of a Prince.

Imagine the future of the country and the Royal family if Kate did not give in to her role and do what her husband desired and expected of her? What if she stayed how she used to be and refused to change? Now think about the impact of her decision to embrace her royal wifely role and how it has changed and impacted the world, people’s lives, now and in the future, as a Queen. 

Now on the contrary, there is another woman who had a similar opportunity as a Prince’s wife who chose not to capitulate to the wifely role her husband needed her to become. She decided to stay the same, not transform, continue to go her own way and led her husband back into her old way of being. This woman is Meghan Markle. 

Many people in the world were hopeful and inspired when Meghan married into the Royal family. She decided she did not want to live up to her royal wifely role in the same way as Kate so instead of moving forward to completely transform herself, adapt and change into that Princess for her husband, she digressed and went back to what was comfortable for her. Growth and transformation is not always comfortable or easy, but what is easy is staying the same. 

As a result, Meghan's husband went along with her and in the process she enabled and allowed him to give up his God given birthright as a royal Prince. This is what will go down in history and it’s what Meghan will be known for as a wife. 

In Genesis 25, Esau sold his birthright to his brother Jacob for a plate of food and Esau despised his God given birthright. Sound familiar?

When you become a wife, there will be expectations and changes you will have to make and you can either choose to move forward in excellence, take on the challenge and become better; or, you can choose to stay the same because it’s comfortable and never progress to your full potential to see the impact your life could have on the world. Choose wisely.
